Dave in SF.

Please look at this beautiful bird of paradise that I saw while running in the rain the other day!  It wasn't pouring, but I still felt pretty cool and invigorated by the whole experience!
 Taking Bart from C&N's.
Flowers on a bush at the park near our church.
One of my favorite apartment buildings.
Dave took a last-minute business trip to San Francisco this week!  Mike is in Chicago so it was just me and Dave in the city.  Dave told me that he wanted to experience "homemade granola and yogurt goodness," so I made sure to make both of those before he came.  I thought I had burned the granola a bit, but Dave still liked it.  No matter how many times I make it, I forget how very closely that stuff has to be watched!  I didn't get his review on the yogurt, but I think he liked it just fine.  It was really nice to have Dave in town--It helped pass some time before Mike comes back!  His traveling seems more noticeable lately because school is out and I'm only working one job  (not that I'm complaining).  I had a lot of fun showing Dave around when he wasn't working.
We took some granola with us down to Palo Alto to see Ty and Becca (Ty is obsessed with granola).  The four of us ate at Calafia, the cafe started by Google's first chef.  Dave got some form of hamburger, Becca got a lamb burger, Ty got a beef & noodle dish, and I got chicken tacos.  I enjoyed my food, but will definitely try something different if I go again.  My favorite thing about the restaurant was the casual references to Google everywhere.  Only in Palo Alto!  After dinner we went back to Ty and Becca's, hung out with Ody, chatted, and ate gelato.

In the morning, Dave had some work related things to attend to.  You'd never guess it, but the life of an intellectual property lawyer is actually very exciting.  After he took care of his...business...we went downtown.
I took Dave to Working Girls Cafe, one of my favorite little places downtown.  It has lots of yummy, fresh salads, paninis, and the like.  I got a greek salad, as usual.  Dave got a salmon sandwich.
He had to save room in his stomach, because after lunch he wanted to go to Swensen's.
Mike and I happened upon Swensen's our very first time in San Francisco (almost one year ago)!  We had no idea that it was a San Francisco classic at the time--but we make sure to take everyone that visits there!  We took Dave when he and Kristin came several months ago, and now it's tradition.
Dave got cookies & cream and cookie dough.
I got my usual, toasted almond.  I spiced it up with some black raspberry swirl, though.  It did not disappoint!  So delicious!

Dave was here for a very short visit, but I'm so glad that he came!  Hopefully next time he ends up in San Francisco for less than 48 hours, Kristin won't be 9 months pregnant and laying low to make sure she doesn't go into labor while he's gone.  Then she can come too!

  1. Awesome trip. :) I'm glad we got to see both of you. Maybe I am totally alone in my Calafia adoration, but Ty's with you - not terribly impressed. Anyway, I LOVE the funny drama of Dave's business and I love spending time with you guys. This is a great family.

    love.

  3. I'm blog-famous. What a day.

I must say, my 27 hours in SF were quite enjoyable. The cookies and cream at Swensen's stole the show (well, other than Missy's homemade yogurt and homemade granola), Calafia was super cool, and sitting on a street corner "watching people" with Missy while eating that Working Girls salmon panini was simply awesome. Oh and I can't forget ditching the Stanford Court Marriott for Missy's floor. I had a great time.

  4. I can't believe MyMeesh wrote this post without explaining the top-secret nature of Dave's spy mission while in SanFran.

Maybe it was so secret Dave couldn't tell?

Anyway, I'm so glad you spent time together. I wish Mike could ahve been there!
